Orientation
The brain of man, like that of all animals is double, being parted down its centre by a thin membrane. For this reason pain is not always felt in the same part of the head, but sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other, and occasionally all over- Hippocrates.
Membrane technology has become a dignified separation technology over the past decennia. The main force of membrane technology is the fact that it works without the addition of chemicals, with a relatively low energy use and easy and well-arranged process conductions. Our faculty coordinator Dr Monash P, an expert in this field shared his knowledge.
Chem-e-Jeopardy Mock Session
AIChE- VIT organised a mock session on Chem-e-Jeopardy, a technical quiz with a twist, that is related to Chemical Engineering. It was mainly an event to discuss the guidelines about the competition and to provide a mock platform to participate by "questioning the answer with a twist". Further, our faculty coordinator Dr Monash P concluded the session by encouraging the participants to be inquisitive to learn about this inventive and prolific event.
Outreach with BIF
They always say the one who teaches, is the giver of eyes. Well, today we did realize that the one whom we teach is the one who teaches us. Our members from AIChE coordinated with BIF Team to witness the outreach to a govt school and teach experiments in the most interactive way ever possible. In this outreach event we went to govt school with two school level basic experiment, was very astonishing, the session was really interactive and the outcome was so great that it felt like we completed this challenge with flying colors as always.
Pick-A-Clue
While it’s very important to have our intellect challenged, so in the form of deciphering words through pictorial representation, we conducted “PICK-A-CLUE”.The event consisted of two rounds with a hint of technical touch in it. The first round was about decoding the pictureacademicsAlong with the regular roundeach question consisted of four inter linked pictures which together formed the clue. All questions were from various scientific and engineering domains.
Inquizition
To check the application based knowledge of our students, we organized a chemical quiz “Inquizition” in the month of March,2016. This 3 round nail biting event was an interactive quiz session based on industrial scale applications of chemical engineering in which mind bending questions were made to challenge the participants’ knowledge. Winners were awarded a winning certificate.
Events organized during GRAVITAS
During Gravitas , the technical fest of our University, we organized three events which tested the participants knack for chemical Engineering - CHEM-E-CLOCK, LABOMANIA and LUBRISLIDE.
Chem-e-clock aimed at designing an efficient heat exchanger. Labomania tested the chemistry of the students. Application of chemistry was seen in Lubrislide. The events were enthralling and received a good of participation
CASA
A program with an initiative to raise our voices against drugs and substance abuse, was held on 4th November. It was an informative seminar which tackled the emerging problem of substance abuse, with a fresh outlook.
Guest Lectures
Recent Trends in Fluid Catalytic Cracking
Continuing on with the sole motivation of helping future chemical engineers in achieving their goal, we organized a guest lecture on the topic “Recent trends in Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Technology18”in the month of September, 2015.Mr.Mukthiyar Ahmed, renowned senior research officer at “Indian Oil Corporation”was invited as our guest lecturer. The session aimed at explaining changes in FCC over the last few years and the vital contribution of Indian oil researchers towards its development. The session provided practical knowledge about FCC operation on industrial scale with its wide range of applications.
